HOMELANDSECURITY
After 9/11 alot of things changed here in the United
States. One of the things that changed is it showed us just how vulnerable
we really were. People were afraid ,the skies were cleared of all the planes,
some politicians demanded gun control, even though the terrorist were
using our airplanes, but everyone wanted to know who was responsible. And in the
months following, it changed the United States as a whole. We were looking to go
after people on the offense, no longer on the defense. It changed our ways and
thoughts of dealing with our enemies. For the most part I can agree with going
after terrorists before they make their way into our country. But some of the
laws that they are discussing and trying to pass, using fear of what happened
then telling us it is for our own good is BULL!!
Our security should always be a top priority, but there should never be a
compromise when it comes to our freedom. Our government at this time is
working on a bill for, HomeLand security, the problem
is, there are too many added phrases that have absolutely nothing to
do with Homeland Security. For example, the second amendment has
been attacked again, and I received a letter the other day, where there was
a peice on pharmaceutical companies and the federal government getting out of
liability for vaccinations. I have not seen the proposed bill yet. But if what I
am told is true, this is just more TRASH added to an
important bill. Sometimes you have to wonder who the politicians work
for, when I look at stuff like this, I know that it's not the average
citizen they have in mind. Sometimes I think some politicians are
using the fear of what happened during 9/11 against us for their own
personal agendas. I think our legislative body needs overhauled, and my
suggestions of doing this is by getting a bill passed that will not allow any
phrase added on to a bill that does not pertain directly to the bill that is
being voted on and I also think that some of our legislatures need to go back to
school on their own time and be taught the bill of rights and that is part of
congress's job to make and pass laws as it is said in the constitution to
support the bill of rights and not destroy
them.
There are good politicians and bad, and I recon it is our job, the citizens, to
weed the bad ones out and try to vote good ones back in, There are some laws
today, that violate our own bill of rights that need changed, at least in a free
society we are able to work on them peacefully. With out a doubt we are the
freeist country in the world, but I am sure our forefathers planned for us
to be the FREE COUNTRY OF THE WORLD. We will just have to keep working on
it.
If you have read this article and you agree, please take the time to write
the president, the speaker of the house and your state representatives, and tell
them that you want a bill that stops the tacking on of writings that do not
pertain to bills that are being passed and that you want a homeland security
bill passed that pertains only to homeland security. Reminder, your government
is supposed to work for you not the other way around.

This is just my opinion, but from what I've seen and heard, some of what
happened on 9/11 could have been prevented if laws that were in place would have
been enforced, and if a homeland security bill is passed, and it pertains only
to our security then I am sure we will all be a whole lot safer.
